01. For dry skin – Carrot & coconut oil
If your skin feels flaky and rough, then your skin is dry. Beta-carotenes in carrots help to smooth out the skin while coconut oil hydrates and preserves the moisture.
Method:
- Steam a carrot for 10-15 minutes
- Add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- Blend into a smooth paste
- Apply on face and leave for 15 minutes
- Rinse and wash with warm water
Extra:
Gently apply a few drops of live oil afterwards as a natural skin moisturizer.
02. For sensitive skin – Cucumber, honey & black tea
Do you flush easily, and react quickly to new skin care products? Non-irritating ingredients like cucumber, honey and black tea help to nourish and detox your sensitive skin.
Method:
- Steep one cup of black tea for 5 minutes
- Add 1 tablespoon of honey
- Soak baby cucumber slices in the mix for 10 minutes
- Place them over face and leave for 15 minutes
- Rinse and wash with warm water
Extra:
Add a drop of sandalwood oil for more effect.
03. For oily skin – Banana, lemon & olive oil
If your skin looks shiny, greasy and is prone to breakouts, the oil absorbing quality in bananas, cleansing quality in lemons can unclog pores and reduce inflammation, while olive oil adds an extra boost to your moisture.
Method:
- Mash one ripe banana into a soft pulp
- Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to create liquid paste
- Apply the mix over face and leave for 15 minutes
- Rinse and wash with warm water
Extra:
Use a recommended face wash to ward off unwanted oiliness on face.
04. For ageing skin – Pumpkin, raw honey & vitamin E
Rougher, slacker skin and wrinkles are signs of ageing. Though we can’t completely control it, vitamin C and K in pumpkin and honey can nourish and rejuvenate skin cells to their natural balance. Vitamin E helps to repair and renew damaged skin.
Method:
- Blend some ripe pumpkin in to a smooth paste
- Add 1 teaspoon of raw honey
- Squeeze 1 vitamin E tablet to the paste and mix well
- Apply the mix over face and leave for 15 minutes
- Rinse and wash with cool water
Extra:
Pour the extra pumpkin paste into an ice tray and freeze to use later. Thaw one cube, add honey and Vitamin E before application.
Although it’s easy to buy company made skin care packs over the counter, homemade skin care products contain no chemicals or harmful substances. No matter what type your skin is, remember to hydrate it by drinking plenty of water and consuming vitamin rich food to keep it healthy and radiant.
